I bought this cute Cricut on Black Friday 2012 from JoAnn's. I tried it as soon as I got it home by cutting my niece's name and thought it was amazing. Put it back into the box until March 2013, when I had a whole weekend scrap planned. Cut a few flowers Friday night, then Saturday morning did two titles. Finished a few pages, had lunch, went back to cut the next page's titles and when I turned it on, all of the green lights lit up on the left side of the machine and it wouldn't let me do anything. It said I had to turn off some options because too many were selected. But it wouldn't let me. Gave up on scrap weekend and came home. Tried all of the advice on the Internet - nothing worked. Called Cricut for customer support. Only option was to connect the Cricut to a computer running Windows (I use a Mac) and download the Design Studio software so I could use it to get to a firmware update. Borrowed a friend's computer, took 2 hours but did all of that, the update went through, turned on the Cricut - all green lights!! Called Cricut back, was told that I had to permanently disable the machine, take a photo of it, email it to Cricut and they would send me a refurbished machine. Not another cute PINK one like I had, but one of the originals. Seriously!!!! Did all that, got the ugly gray one, the top cover piece won't open all the way so I have to peek underneath to see the screen, but at least I'm cutting letters again! I'm so not impressed and will never buy another Cricut product when this clunker dies - and I'm guessing it won't be long.
