The best of all of Gary's white funk albums and the most entertaining and fun of them all in my humble opinion. Production is FANTASTIC, AND the songs are more Prince influenced than ever before, with a much-maligned cover of ¨You Got The Look¨ I actually find better than the original. Not a weak track on the whole cd as oppossed to earlier efforts. Two absolutely gorgeous slow ¨ballads¨ are interspersed so you can rest from the intense, hard-hitting industrial dance floor beats and hard-rock guitar soloing; this album is a corker, and a rocker to boot. The white funk/industrial/rock amalgam works incredibly well; only a genius like Gary could have pulled this off. His recordsfrom '85's ¨The Fury¨ to this one, omits the use of conventional drumming for PPG and bass guitar for keyboards, conveying a weird mixture of coldness and heat. When I thought I could not like this CD more, I got myself a copy of the ¨Dream Corrosion¨ live VHS, on which the live versions of this songs are simply to die for.My only production ¨gripe¨ is Gary's voice is mixed low in the mix, and a tad muddy, while the excellent backing female vocals are louder than his one; sonically no problems, for they're perfectly mixed in (not deafeningly so as other reviewer pointed out. A couple tracks were overly bright, which I corrected with my equalizer, one track, ¨Emotion¨ had so much bottom end I had to tame it with my bass control for fear my speakers would explode from the workout, others I was able to play flat, and half of the songs I had to resort to my subwoofer to reinforce, so production and remaster, while excellent, are somewhat uneven, but no complaints really. I don't know how the original sounded, for I went straight for this gorgeous 74' remastered version with SIX bonus tracks, comprised from demos (which are better than the definitive versions, are very different, and feature clear Numan vocals to boot) and b-sides to the single cuts of severals tracks (same history with those) A special mention for 1999 (another Prince cover ) wich had my feet tapping all along.A must for any Numan completist and people who, like me, enjoys his white funk period.
