Who would have thought that a 21-year-old could write and co-produce such an invigorating set of raw, splintering country rock? Makes you wonder if she's some doe-eyed honky tonk chanteuse of yore reincarnated in Columbus, Ohio. There are countless garage bands across the U.S. who have vied for a similar melodic, buzzing guitar sound, but Lydia emphasizes country song structure over rock, filling out the ruckus with banjo, violin and pedal steel. The band is deftly adaptable, stretching its punky, crunchy country inflections around mid-tempo shuffle beats ("How Many Women") and a stompin' polka beat ("Jesus Was a Wino").Lydia's voice and songwriting are every bit the match of the top notch musicianship. Her alto is genuinely melodic and her personal reflections are surprisingly mature, whether she's singing about alcohol, religion, romance, or a local stalker who fancies he's Steve Earle."Indestructible Machine" is an exciting album from promising talents. Co-producer/engineer Joe Viers deserves praise for the clarity and balance of the final mix. He has preserved a worthy document of a band that leaves everything on stage when it performs and everything in the studio when it records. After seeing her live, opening for The Detroit Cobras, I immediately went home bought both this and her previous album ("The Only Man"), and was pleased with both. Indestructible Machine, however, is more up my alley and comes across as the more mature and cohesive album of the two. It's clear Loveless has found her song writing rhythm, and her voice - both in the writing and vocally - is confident and has much to offer. If you enjoy/appreciate music in the vein of Loretta Lynn, the Heartless Bastards, Neko Case, or Jack White/The White Stripes, you should dig her clever, grungy, country twang. Can't wait for the next one.Lydia is INCREDIBLE ! Her voice, fresh raw talent and style, with exceptional band members have just dominated my music listening. I'm a guitarist playing in bands myself and I can't get of enough her! Ben Lamb is phenomenal on bass and Todd May is so tasteful on guitar, he has a great voice as well.Never heard of Lydia before but this album was recommended to me by someone I value and I am so glad I did this is a fantastic album by one of the best singers I have heard. Its a mixture of Country/Rock/Bluegrass with a little bit of punk the lyrics are great Lydia has a beautiful powerful voice and she is backed by a great sounding band. Well worth getting for your collection if you love brillant songs.I bought the vinyl after seeing her live video recording of "Can't Change Me", which I named best live recording of 2013. The recording and mixing of the record leaves a bit to be desired. I understand budget constraints, but as a producer and audio engineer, it's my opinion that this record could have been much better. I'm hoping that Lydia hooks up with a good producer/engineer for her future efforts.Fell in love with Lydia after hearing "Can't Change Me" on a Bloodshot Records sampler and it's the stand-out track on this album. She's got a powerful voice and writes powerful, insightful, gritty, catchy songs. Now's the time to catch this elevator on the ground floor. She's way too good to go unnoticed for long.Purchased this after seeing Lydia and her band play live and quickly fell in love with it. She blends country, rock, bluegrass, and a little punk into heartfelt songs that stick with the listener. Her vocals are strong yet vulnerable. Eagerly awaiting her new release and return trip to Cincinnati.Lydia Loveless is going to be a big star so get her early work NOW!The second album from a gal not afraid to step outside the sweetness of the normal country singers. For her age there's a maturity of life and she's not afraid to let rip.Great vocals, great arrangements, could only be bettered if I could see her live.Hope she tours soon!Great album. This artist has a big future ahead.Love this girl, great album
