XY table is a necessity for a fiber laser. Trying to push your material into alignment is painful at best. Using an XY table you can easily move the knobs to put your material directly where you need it. If you fasten the XY table to the table and also fasting guides to the top of the XY table then you have an easily repeatable alignment. This particular table has a ton of movement and is very smooth. I do not know if the measurement markings on the knobs are accurate but I'm really not doing anything that requires me to shift something front to back or side to side and exact measurement amount. I do line my table up so they XY axis are in alignment with the XY axes of the laser head. Also this table is flat and when placed on a flat laser bed it retains the flatness with no problem. I wouldn't work without it.
