Bought it to try welding for fun. For the $110 CAD price tag, I figured I couldn't really go too wrong. Although I have a lot to learn, and my welding looks like leprosy, the actual machine works pretty well so far. I only used it on 110v under between 30 and 75 amps, since I only welded very thin metals, and burn through is an issue. At those amperages, overheating has not been an issue yet (no overheats so far). One minus I discovered, is that the white number display is pretty hard to read in bright environments, since the off color for the segmented display is also white. This means that segments that are turned off are hard to distinguish from segments that are turned on. I would think that a red, green, or blue segmented display would be easier to read. The welder actually has a few features, including arc force (0-100 also commonly called dig), shock protection (on or off), current (main setting), and hot start (on or off). When plugging it on a multimeter (sadly I don't have a meter that can read over 10 amps), the voltage read 80 volts. When enabling shock protection, the voltage dropped to 19 volts.Overall, nice little machine for the price. Time will tell if it lasts, but it already allowed me to fix a garden tool, and work on some small machine projects I have. Plus, it's very small and portable.
