Laser works fine, the steady current driver functions as intended (but be aware it isn't the same as something designed to be controlled by lower voltage... I failed to realize I'd need to wire a transistor to control the thing). The lens is slightly loose, and thus sits misaligned on the casing. I had to fashion a collar I could use to hold the lens in alignment so I could get full power from the beam. Not an unreasonable glitch in a product that is so inexpensive... but a glitch none the less. I bought two and the same problem is present on both.Works great, have been experimenting with it on my Prusa I3 using the J Tech Photonics, Inc. Inkscape extension. Pretty neat addition to my 3d printing capability. Cuts paper, urethane foam, I have cut 1/16 balsa very slowly ( about 10 mm/min), leather engraving etc. But did not purchase it for cutting so not an issue.I wanted to make a portable Lazer Engraver. This works exactly as it is supposed to, but for my application, it was too slow. Works great for its intended use replacing a factory laser in a programmed situation. I made a sliding laser for freehand engraving. Just was not powerful enough for freehand.I did not really spected much about this product as it was the cheapest available and about 25% less than the nex cheaper. It did really exceeded my expectations and fulfilled the job. I use it a few times to engrave plastic and leather, burn things and matches, and burst balloons. Does the job right away. Love this new tool/toy heheI had some issues getting my laser engraver to work, but as soon as the coding was straightened out it worked great. I like that it has the adjustable lens so that I can adjust the beam focus manually instead of having to adjust the height of the entire machine.Worked Beautifully! I was surprised at the price and was not expecting much. Boy was I wrong! I hooked it to my Bench Power Supply and the laser started and was all I could hope for. I had paid more for less effective. It came with protective glasses... my suggestion... use them for gods sake!worksWas hotter than I expected. A pleasant surprise was the presence of 5 tapped holes under one of the stickers on the unit. Instantly solved how to mount it. (1 hole, centered tapped for 1/4-20, the same as tripod mounts. 4 holes that look like 4-40.)
