So I became interested in this band because I was/am a huge fan of Hole and apparently Courtney Love briefly played with them back in the day. Putting that aside and judging the music on its own merits this is an awesome set of tunes. Angry, grungy, raw and powerful yet still able to carry a melody and a hook. No small achievement.If you're going to compare Babes in Toyland with Hole I would say BIT have more of a sense of humour about themselves. Some of the lyrics sound like they are laughing at memories of dysfunctional relationships with a sort of therapeutic laughter. BIT are probably rawer and much more "indie" than Hole if that sort of thing matters to you.Stand out tracks are "he's my thing" "pain in my heart" and "lashes" but the whole album is quality with no real duds in the mix.Highly recommended.
