I love this album. I'm a fan of The Hellacopters, and while this may not be as fast and furious as earlier or even later Hellacopters it's still an amazing rock and roll album. If you have followed The Hellacopters career, and loved how they grew as a band, then you'll love Imperial State Electric. I feel like it's the natural progression for Nicke Andersson as a singer/songwriter/badass guitar player. He's so good. How is he so good?I've listened to ISE before but never really got hooked until I heard Honk Machine. This is my go-to chill out album. The first time I listened to Honk Machine I had just finished preparing dinner for my partner and I. We poured some wine, took a few hits, and dimmed the lights. The vocals in Maybe You're Right have a special quality that immediately gave us chills. Lost in Losing You has such swagger it got our heads swaying and our shoulders a shimmying. Whether you're looking for a steady rocker to shake your fist with, or a mellow toon to hold your honey to, you'll find it on this Honk Machine.Honk Machine is joy ride. With no single track reaching the 4 minute mark, it's a brisk listen. Even slower numbers like Walk On By don't overstay their welcome. I'm not sure who is singing on Just Let Me Know, but it straight up sounds like Paul Stanley. I was told that Maybe You're Right sounds like The Beatles. Whether or not you're into that, it's great to see Andersson give up the vocal reins once in awhile. Unless that is Andersson, and I'm a big idiot. Regardless, it's great to hear a different voice on the albums sometimes. It's helps keep things moving and interesting. That's it. Listen to it, and have a good day.
