I don't think I've ever had a duvet before, I just used a normal comforter with no cover. I got tired of washing the whole comforter every time I had to wash the sheets so I decided to give a duvet a try and I'm super happy I did. Now, to my knowledge people get duvets so they don't have to wash their comforter/insert as often as if you didn't have a cover and that's exactly what I bought it for. It's much easier to just wash the cover than the whole thing.I wasn't particularly looking for an organic cotton one, just a cotton one. I really didn't care about the design too much either as this was my first duvet cover. I just needed one that was cotton, easy to wash, and easy to take on/off.I got the Farelle color way (multi colored triangles on one side and stripes on the other). I am pleased with the coloring as it more closely matches the second product photo where the colors aren't as bright. I haven't used the shams yet but I have washed them and they washed up well. No shrinkage or damage from washing just like the duvet cover itself. The colors didn't fade or bleed either which is good.I have to comment on the smell of this set - kind of a chemically, gluey, weird smell when you first open it and it doesn't go away from airing it out. You definitely must wash this set before use. Some people do and some people don't but I'd definitely recommend washing this set first for sure. I also threw the little sheet bag it came in into the wash with the duvet/shams because I'm that person who doesn't let a good container/bag go to waste. The bag had a lot of loose strings and such which was to be expected (I don't think you're actually supposed to keep these sheet bags but I do). The sheet bag washed up great, too. After that first wash I put my new duvet on my new down duvet insert and tested it out - omigosh I loooved it! The duvet cotton is so smooth and not super crunchy or starchy. It has eight ties to secure the insert and has several buttons to close it up. I probably would've preferred a zipper closure because that's just easier for me to open and close.I've slept almost a month with this duvet cover and none of the ties or buttons have come undone while sleeping (and I toss and turn all night long), yay! It's gone through a few washings and still has held up just like the day I got it. My cat absolutely loves this thing - she was the first to get on it actually. She waited patiently for me to finish buttoning it up the first time and when I was done she immediately made a little bed for herself and stayed on it all day.Overall this is a fabulous duvet set and I'd definitely recommend this. I might get another one to change it up every now and then.
