Wanted a decent metal tamper for my new espresso machine because all it came with was a wimpy plastic spoon combo thing that looked ridiculous on my countertop next to the beautiful machine. Surprised there weren't any pictures left for any reviews. This thing is simple yet elegant. I read through so many reviews and considered one of those spring loaded ones where it's "calibrated" and a lot of them mentioned how it breaks or falls apart or it presses too deep into the filter... all of that just seemed... excessive? It's espresso. It's not supposed to be that complicated. Aside from the beautiful appearance of this tamper the weight is fantastic. I realize the description mentions it's iron filled with a steel exterior, but nothing could've prepared me for the weight on this thing. That alone makes this a winner for me against all other tampers (just don't drop it on your wood/tile floor). Anyway.. the weight really helps make tamping a smooth process. Put that heaping tiny mountain of fresh ground italian espresso into your portafilter and then just drop this this baby into it and it's just perfection. I love coffee. I love the art of coffee... for less than $15... this is IT.
