Before purchasing, I had asked another reviewer, Bill, about their experience with the table over time. He assured me that it is holding up well so I took the plunge and made the purchase. After assembly, I must say we are quite pleased. We are using this as a coffee table in our teenage daughter's bedroom. She has (2) twin beds that are arranged so that they form an L-shaped sectional and the table is centered in that area. This arrangement has really opened up the floor space in her room. She is using the table for her alarm clock, remote control storage, and other bedside sundries and it also provides a place for her to set a drink or snack down when she is watching TV or playing a game. The metallic uprights that we received are indeed metal, not plastic, as stated in a different review. The disks that are situated between the uprights and glass are plastic which makes sense as they are there to protect the glass from scratching or cracking when putting the table together. Unlike another reviewer's table, ours is definitely not made of cardboard. It is some type of dark laminate over press board, plywood, or ???. When assembling the table, you have to punch through the laminate in order to access the holes for the bolts so the laminate is fairly thin. We particularly like the contrast between the beveled, clear glass table top and the frosted glass, bottom shelf. It is visually quite appealing. Once assembled, the table is definitely sturdy.Thank you, Bill, for your review and for your help. It is most appreciated.
