This is not the same as a gym vibrating plate. Those products vibrate laterally, without changing the angle of the plate itself. This is more like a high-speed, low-pitch seesaw. The plate moves fast with a motion like a tiny seesaw, so that if you rest hands or feet on either side of the plate, they will be lifted and lowered a very small amount over and over again. This does NOT make it a bad product. I want to be clear both with that point and how it functions. The plate is surprisingly large and also not as heavy as I thought it would be. It has some mass to it, so you won't be throwing it around, but it's not hard to put into position. For home exercise equipment, especially in multi-use spaces, this is important. The plate is large enough to accommodate me with feet placed at shoulder width when standing. The average man and smaller would only be limited for things like goblet squats and similar exercises, where the stance is very wide. Performing planks on the plate is also not an issue - my arms can be placed in a nice neutral position. I was worried it would be a classic Amazon product that you receive and find it's half the expected size, but it is about the smallest I would accept for working out. The price is right for the size.Build quality is generally good. I have concerns about anything with plastic parts that both moves and holds an adult's weight. I haven't seen anything to suggest failure will happen soon, but I have questions on longevity. With that said, I'm not going to mark a product lower for hypothetical issues.I am happy with the product. It feels good to use and stores well. It won't fix a bad routine or bad diet, but it's a nice tool to have in rotation.
